SDN Overview
euroNAS SDN is the software-defined networking layer within eEVOS. It provides cluster-aware virtual switching and VM network policy management for virtual machines running in an eEVOS environment.
Its purpose is to keep virtual networking consistent across cluster nodes so that virtual machines can be managed, migrated, and recovered with predictable network behaviour.
Purpose
euroNAS SDN provides a controlled networking layer for clustered virtualisation. It ensures that virtual switches, uplink assignments, and VM interface settings remain aligned across the environment.

Role within eEVOS
euroNAS SDN is part of the eEVOS virtualisation platform. It supports VM networking, migration preparation, failover readiness, and day-to-day network administration for clustered workloads.
Administrative integration
euroNAS SDN is integrated into the eEVOS management interface for switch administration, VM network assignment, health checks, and migration workflows.
Current SDN interface
The current eEVOS interface separates daily tasks into two areas:
- Virtual Networks: Virtual Networks, Virtual Switches, and Create Virtual Network/Switch.
- Virtual Switches: Virtual Switches, Virtual Network Health, Cluster Network Manager, Create Virtual Switch, and VM Network Profiles.
Virtual Network Health is provided as a dedicated page; it is no longer duplicated inside the Virtual Switches page. VM Management also provides a shortcut to Virtual Networks.
Cluster Network Manager and ACLs
Cluster Network Manager prepares the highly available OVN control plane and floating service address used by distributed switching. Configure it before creating the first distributed virtual switch. The current platform also provides an operational ACL-profile baseline for switch policy and micro-segmentation. This is not a complete NSX-equivalent distributed firewall.
