Monitors, Managers, MDS and MON/MGR Placement
The eEKAS Cluster Status page includes tabs for Monitors, Managers, MDS and MON/MGR Placement. These views explain which cluster services are active and where important Ceph roles are running.
Ceph Monitors
Monitors maintain the cluster map and quorum. A healthy monitor set is essential for reliable cluster operation. If monitor quorum is lost, cluster management and client operations can be affected.
Administrators should verify:
- expected monitors are present,
- quorum is stable,
- monitor placement follows the intended node design,
- no monitor-related alerts are present.
Ceph Managers
Managers provide monitoring and management services for the Ceph cluster. They support dashboards, metrics and operational modules. At least one manager should be active, with standby managers available according to the cluster design.
MDS Services
MDS services are relevant for CephFS metadata operations. If CephFS-backed services are used, MDS status becomes operationally important. If the environment does not use CephFS, MDS may be less central than OSD, MON and MGR health.
MON/MGR Placement
The MON/MGR Placement view helps verify where monitor and manager roles are placed. Placement should avoid concentrating critical services on a single failure domain.
Operational Checklist

Support Notes
When reporting cluster control-plane issues, include screenshots or copied status from Ceph Status, Monitors, Managers and MON/MGR Placement. Also include the node count, affected node and the time the issue started.
