Snapshots - Overview and Concepts
Snapshots provide point-in-time recovery points for eEKAS storage. They are useful before maintenance, before larger data changes and as part of a regular operational protection plan.
What the overview shows
- Resource Name identifies the share, target or storage resource protected by snapshots.
- Volume Name shows the underlying volume.
- Type shows the filesystem or storage type.
- Number of Snapshots and Last Snapshot show the current protection state.
- Schedule indicates whether automatic snapshots are configured.
Typical workflow
- Open Snapshots from the eEKAS menu.
- Review existing resources and snapshot counts.
- Create an on-demand snapshot before risky changes.
- Create a schedule for production resources.
- Periodically verify retention, restore procedures and available capacity.
Operational guidance
- Snapshots are not a replacement for external backup.
- Keep retention aligned with available capacity.
- Test restore procedures before relying on snapshots for production recovery.
